    • 10+2+3/4/5
    • 10+3+2/3 (Diploma)

  • Degrees obtained directly from Open Universities without following these patterns are not eligible.

Selection Process

Stage Details
Written Examination
  • Tamil Language Eligibility Test (Qualifying in nature; 100 questions, 100 marks)
  • Main Written Examination (Part A: 40 marks, Part B: 30 marks)
Certificate Verification Candidates must produce original documents uploaded during the online application process.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  • Men: Minimum height of 170 cm (OC/BC/MBC) or 167 cm (SC/ST)
  • Women: Minimum height of 159 cm (OC/BC/MBC) or 157 cm (SC/ST)
  • Chest (Men only): Normal - 81 cm, Expansion - 5 cm
Endurance Test (ET)
  • Men: 1500 meters run in 7 minutes or less
  • Women: 400 meters run in 2 minutes 30 seconds or less
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  • Marks awarded based on performance in events like rope climbing, long jump, high jump, running, and more (depending on gender).
  • Total marks: 15
Viva-Voce Conducted for 10 marks, assessing communication skills, confidence, and overall personality.
Special Marks
  • Marks for NCC, NSS, or sports achievements (Maximum 5 marks)
  • Medals from National Police Duty Meets for Departmental Candidates.
Final Selection Based on total marks from written examination, PET, viva-voce, and special marks, subject to communal reservation and notified vacancies.

Faq's

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree from any recognized University in a specific pattern, such as 10+2+3, 10+3+2, or 10+2+3 (after ITI or Diploma). Direct degrees from open universities without following these patterns are not eligible.

The minimum age is 20 years, and the maximum age is 30 years as of 01.07.2025. Age relaxations apply for certain categories like BC/MBC (32 years), SC/ST (35 years), and Ex-Servicemen (47 years).

A total of 1,299 vacancies are available: 933 for Sub-Inspectors (Taluk) and 366 for Sub-Inspectors (Armed Reserve), distributed between men and women based on community and quota guidelines.

The selection process includes a Tamil Language Test, Main Written Examination, Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Endurance Test (ET), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Viva-Voce, and Document Verification.
